1321 - the first SL202
1321 was introduced in 1992 at Elizabeth depot. One of only five SL202 diesels with a ZF transmission, it was the first SL202 built for Adelaide. During its life, it operated on the O-Bahn Busway until 2011.
MAN SL202 buses featured a new type of window compared to older models called “bonded windows”. These are more flush to the bus’s body than “rubber mounted windows” as seen on older buses.
In 2000 it was transferred to Serco, who renumbered it 421, a number it would keep until its retirement in 2016. In 2005 it was transferred to Torrens Transit, where it would stay until its retirement.
1321 is currently undergoing restoration to its “as delivered” condition.
